Notices and mutual aid

Department notices

A notice is a non-emergency message to the department — a work detail, a road closure, a training reminder. Members with permission can post one from the app using the button next to the map icon.

A notice never sounds like a dispatch. It uses a quiet notification tone, never the alarm channel, never Do Not Disturb, and never a full-screen alert. A notice that could be mistaken for a call at 3am would poison every real page that followed it.

A notice sits below active calls for 24 hours, then falls in with recent items. You can give it an expiry date; the default end time is 11:59pm on the day you choose.

Responding to a notice

Notices have their own response buttons — usually just available and unavailable — set by your department. Opening a notice is recorded, so an officer can see who has seen it.

Mutual aid

Where two departments have agreed to it, you may see notices — and calls shared as notices — from a neighbouring department. These are marked MUTUAL AID and show which department they came from.

They are read-only: no response buttons, and no author name, because the agreement is between departments. A shared call stays visible for 30 minutes, which is about as long as it is useful.
