Common questions, straight answers

How long does setup take?

For a single station with one apparatus and one TV, you can be up and running in under a day. We'll import your members from a spreadsheet, you wire your CAD feed (Active911), point your TV at the board URL, and you're live. Multi-station and county-wide deployments take longer — we plan it with you.

Do I have to buy every product?

No. Start with what hurts most — usually Truck Check or the Wallboard — and add the others when you're ready. Each product is sold separately, and the bundle discount kicks in any time you have two or more.

What are Sign-Ups and Voting? Why are they cheaper?

They're Office add-ons — small tools that piggyback on your member roster. Sign-Ups is for trainings, fundraisers, and socials (with public signup links, time-slot pickers, and reminder emails). Voting is for officer elections and bylaw motions (token-based ballots + a live admin console). Each is $25/yr on top of your Office subscription, since both lean on the member data you've already paid Office to maintain. You can't buy them stand-alone — Office is the foundation they sit on.

What's "per editor" mean? Do my firefighters need accounts?

Editor seats are the people who change things — admins, officers, training officers. Anyone viewing the wallboard or CAD board on a TV doesn't need an account. For Truck Check, every firefighter who marks a check complete uses one seat — that's why the cap is 250. Most volunteer departments use 30-80 truck-check seats.

We use Active911 already. Does Station Pulse work with that?

Yes — that's exactly how the CAD Board works. You generate a personal refresh token from Active911's developer console (1-year lifespan, free), paste it into Station Pulse's admin panel, and the board pulls alerts and marked-up responders in real time. No extra Active911 license needed.

What if I want to leave? Can I export my data?

All your data — members, certs, training hours, journal entries, custom check templates — is yours and exportable as CSV/JSON any time. We don't lock you in. If you ever leave, we hand you everything and shake hands.

Switching from PSTrax or a paper system?

We've done this a few times. Send us your current export (PSTrax has a CSV export; paper can be scanned + we'll do the typing), and we'll have it loaded before your first day live. Free as part of onboarding.

Is my department's data secure?

PII columns (names, emails, SSNs, ID-theft PINs) are encrypted at rest with per-application keys — not just the database, the values themselves. Two-factor and modern passkey sign-in are built in. Every action is audit-logged with the actor's user id and timestamp. You hold your own admin keys; we can't read your members' private info even if we wanted to.

Who's behind this?

Active volunteer firefighter who got tired of the existing software being either expensive, ugly, or both.
